Moving can be complicated. To help ease the stress and create a smooth transition, we have created a Kingston Moving Checklist for you. It includes a complete list of service and utility providers in Kingston that you will need to either set up or have transferred to your new home.
Utility Transfer and Setup
Just like all your boxes and furniture, you will also need to bring your services to your new home. Don’t forget to transfer, cancel, or turn on your utilities to alleviate Moving Day stress and avoid past-due bills. You will want to start this process about 3-4 weeks before the big day. The best way to do this is to create two checklists – one for your current home and one for your new home. The two lists will have the same categories; however, the providers may be different. Include the following basic utilities on your list:
- Water and sewer
- Electricity
- Natural Gas
- Water heater rentals
- Garbage and recycling collection
- TV and internet
- Mailbox setup and mail forwarding
- Home insurance
