June is always a busy month with many activities inside and out to keep you occupied. But don’t forget to take some time for monthly maintenance tasks that will help keep your home in good condition. Here are a few monthly maintenance tips for June to get you started.
✅ Change your smoke detector batteries (this should be done every six months). So, if you can’t remember when you changed them last, now is probably a good time! You should also replace your smoke detector unit every ten years.
✅ Stay on top of your gardening and keep up that curb appeal. Adding mulch to gardens, trimming bushes, and picking weeds are just a few things you can do to keep your gardens looking fresh. A little TLC goes a long way!
✅ Warmer weather means spending more time outside. Inspect your children’s outdoor play structures to ensure everything is secure, and make repairs as needed. Be sure to check surrounding areas for safety hazards too.
✅ Ontario is expected to have a stormy summer with heavy rainfall. If you haven’t done so yet, now is a good time to clean your gutters and downspouts. Gutters clogged with leaves and debris can lead to damage and leaks.
Want to save energy this summer? Consider hanging a clothesline. If that’s not an option, you can reduce energy by washing in cold water, cleaning the lint trap after each load, and having your dryer vent serviced to increase airflow.
